SHINE Humanity and Taskeen partner to expand mental health access

SHINE Humanity Pakistan, a non-profit aimed at enhancing health outcomes for underserved communities, has announced a three-year partnership with Taskeen Health Initiative, which focuses on mental wellbeing. This collaboration will connect SHINE’s clinics with Taskeen’s mental health helpline, increasing access to psychological support for vulnerable populations in Sindh.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishes a referral channel via Taskeen’s helpline for remote mental health support at two SHINE clinics in Koohi Goth and Gharo. SHINE will set up a dedicated phone line and private space for confidential counseling with Taskeen’s psychologists, who will manage follow-ups on referrals.

Additionally, the partnership includes training for SHINE’s lay counsellors in basic counselling and psychoeducation skills. Both organizations will collaborate to track referrals and improve mental health outcomes.

Looking forward, they plan to explore funding opportunities to integrate Taskeen’s PEACE program into SHINE’s primary healthcare system, aiming to embed mental health support within community care. “This partnership reflects our commitment to integrated healthcare,” said Faheem Khan, CEO of SHINE Humanity Pakistan. The MOU underscores a shared goal of strengthening referral pathways and enhancing early identification of mental health issues in Pakistan.
