WAPDA awards cash prizes to its sportspersons

According to the prevailing policy, WAPDA awarded cash prizes to its sportspersons for winning medals for Pakistan at international events during 2025 and 2026. Chairman WAPDA and Patron-in-Chief WAPDA Sports Board (WSB) Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed (Retd) distributed cash awards amongst the sportspersons in a ceremony organised by WSB at WAPDA House today. Members of the Authority, GM Sports/President WSB, Advisor Sports WAPDA, Senior WAPDA officers and representatives of WSB also attended the ceremony.

Recipients of the cash awards included Olympian Arshad Nadeem for Gold Medals in 26th Asian Athletics Championship and the Islamic Solidarity Games; Yasir Sultan for Silver Medal in the Islamic Solidarity Games; Noor Zaman for Silver Medal in 2nd Asian Squash Championship; Nasir Iqbal for Silver Medal in 2nd Asian Squash Championship; Bano Kausar for Gold Medal in 9th Asian Ju Jitsu Championship; Isra Waseem for Bronze Medal in 9th Asian Ju Jitsu Championship and Gold Medal in 3rd South Asian Ju Jitsu Championship; Kainat Arif for Bronze Medal in 9th Asian Ju Jitsu Championship and Gold Medal in 3rd South Asian Ju Jitsu Championship; Ali Rashid for Bronze Medal in 9th Asian Ju Jitsu Championship and Gold Medal in 3rd South Asian Ju Jitsu Championship. In addition, cash awards were also presented to the WAPDA Cricket Team for winning the President Trophy Grade-I 2026.

Addressing the ceremony, the Chairman congratulated the sportspersons for bringing laurels to Pakistan and making the Nation proud. He expressed the hope that, with their passion, commitment, hard work, and rigorous training, they will raise the bar of their performance on the international stage in the days to come. The Chairman reaffirmed that WAPDA will continue to provide full support and facilities to its sportspersons to help them excel and win more medals for Pakistan.

It is important to note that WAPDA has been patronising sports in Pakistan for nearly half a century as its Corporate Social Responsibility. Since 2022, WAPDA sportspersons, representing Pakistan, have won 91 Gold Medals, 28 Silver Medals and 36 Bronze Medals in individual and team events at various global and international events, including the Paris Olympics, Paralympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Islamic Solidarity Games, Asian Games, Asian Championships, and South Asian Championships.
