Punjab Family Planning Program has launched the “Behtar Qadam”

The Punjab Family Planning Program (PFPP), in collaboration with Rayn and Riz Consulting, has launched the “Behtar Qadam” initiative to promote a renewed approach to family planning across Punjab. This outreach program emphasises dialogue and awareness without imposing choices, supporting families as a trusted partner.

Engaging women, husbands, youth, community members, NGOs, and religious scholars, “Behtar Qadam” is active in all 41 districts of Punjab. It encourages informed decision-making centred on maternal, newborn, and child health, aiming for healthier families and stronger communities.

Capt. Dr. Usman Ali Khan, Program Director of PFPP, stated, “Behtar Qadam invites all societal members to learn, discuss, and plan responsibly for a prosperous society.”

From November to February, the initiative conducted over 394 events, reaching more than 25,000 individuals, primarily students from over 100 institutions, through seminars, health fairs, and discussions on family wellbeing. Major activities took place in Lahore and several other districts.

Looking ahead, by June 2027, the initiative plans more than 1,293 engagements, including community dialogues and youth forums, to further promote informed decision-making on family planning and reproductive health.
