Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has successfully reclaimed 893 square meters of precious land in the West Wharf as part of its ongoing port reform strategy, following a coordinated operation conducted here on Thursday at the court’s orders.
The reclaimed land includes an 873-square-meter plot numbered T-15, which was peacefully brought under KPT control. Additionally, illegal structures covering 20 square meters at plot number 6/2 were demolished during the operation.
The operation was meticulously planned and executed by the KPT administration, demonstrating the port’s commitment to safeguarding its assets and maintaining a climate-resilient, efficient maritime infrastructure.
A joint task force comprising officials from law enforcement agencies, the Karachi Port Security Force, the KPT Anti-Encroachment Team, and the District Administration of Kemari collaborated on the operation under the supervision of 33 Wing Pakistan Rangers Sindh. Their combined efforts ensured the swift and peaceful removal of encroachments, restoring the land to its rightful status under the jurisdiction of KPT.
This move aligns with KPT’s broader vision to enhance port security and optimize cargo handling capabilities in line with government initiatives. These unlawful encroachments had compromised the operational efficiency of the port’s infrastructure.
