Chairman NHA visited Operations Centers located at NHA HQs

In order to modernize National Highways and Motorways with Digital Technology an Intelligent Transport and Roads Monitoring system consisting of about 100 LEDs has been installed at National Highway Authority head office. The Members of National Highway Authority Executive Board led by Chairman NHA Mr. Jawwad Rafique Malik visited Operations Centers located at NHA HQs recently.

These Operations Centers monitor Toll plazas which are equipped with Electronic Toll & Traffic Management (ETTM) systems through state of the art Cameras and systems to ensure facilitation of commuters, close monitoring of Operation & Management Contractors (OMCs) to keep all the lanes operational 24/7. Daily reports for lane closures are generated to ensure facilitation of the road users.  Data collected from these state of the art technologies will help in better decision making, analytics and ultimately in revenue enhancement.

On this occasion Chairman NHA Mr. Jawwad Rafique Malik said, steps are underway for the earliest completion of Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway and that the latest digital system is employed at the project which includes handling emergencies, controlling traffic accidents, lane marking, placement of LEDs, electronic toll collection, and installation of Optic Fiber Cable as well as maximum civic and travelling facilities shall be ensured at service areas. High speed vehicles will be monitored through cameras. Such digital system shall also be installed along other motorways gradually.

The Members of the NHA Executive Board appreciated the efforts being carried out and fruitful results being obtained from technology to ensure end-user facilitation
