A sectoral council meeting on logistics was held on November 18, 2024, at the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Headquarters in Karachi. The meeting took place at 11 AM in the committee room on the 5th floor and aimed to address key challenges and outline a way forward for the sector. It was chaired by the Minister for Commerce, Mr Jam Kamal Khan, and attended by the Secretary of TDAP, Executive Director General of the Ministry of Commerce, high-ranking officials from various ministries, provincial governments, and relevant departments.
Additionally, representatives from organizations such as FOAP, WLA, and PIFFA, along with council members, were present.
Mr. Haroon Farooq, Chairman of WLA, and Mr. Rana Asim Shakoor, Chairman of FOAP, delivered comprehensive presentations detailing the sector’s challenges and opportunities.
Council members contributed their input regarding potential solutions and identified the ministries and federal and provincial departments whose interventions are essential for uplifting the sector.
The Chair concluded the meeting by committing to addressing these challenges at the highest level and pursuing actionable strategies to resolve issues in the logistics and transport sector. Steps will be taken to ensure that the council’s recommendations are presented to the National Export Development Board of Pakistan.
