1 arrested, 1160 illegal gas connections removed by SSGC

Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) is intensifying efforts to combat gas theft in Sindh and Balochistan. Recent raids in Karachi led to multiple arrests, including Raheemullah at a Water Hydrant Factory, who was stealing gas for a generator.

In Rind Goth, an underground connection was found supplying gas to 250 households, with culprits charging Rs. 40,000 upfront and Rs. 1,500 monthly. FIRs were registered against Chandzaib Khan, Wali Jan, and Malik Dad Chandio.

Another illegal connection was detected in Gulshan-e-Muazzam Society, providing gas to 150 houses, charging Rs. 50,000 upfront and Rs. 2,500 monthly, involving Masroor Ali and Ghulam Fareed. In Ibrahim Hyderi, gas theft was supplying 60 houses, with culprits charging Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 2,000 monthly.

A significant raid at Goth Wasand Khan uncovered theft involving about 700 houses, with payments of an advance of Rs. 35,000 and monthly payments of Rs. 2,000, leading to FIRs against Allah Wadhaya, Javed Abbasi, and Dil Jan Marwat. All equipment used for these thefts was confiscated. SSGC emphasizes that gas theft is a community crime and continues to take strong action against it.
