With dredging works completed, Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited (KGTML) – Noatum Ports is now positioned to accommodate larger vessels, with berth depths reaching 15 metres and enabling the handling of bulk vessels of up to 120,000 metric tonnes, doubling the previous 60,000-tonne capability.
The next phase will introduce four high-capacity ship unloaders, two ship loaders, 14 food-grade silos and dedicated export warehouses, creating an integrated cargo-handling chain for faster vessel operations, efficient storage and smoother movement of bulk imports and exports.
With a projected capacity of up to 9 million tonnes through the silo complex and 8.5 million tonnes through export infrastructure, the development will strengthen Pakistan’s bulk cargo and food supply chain while supporting greater trade efficiency.
Designed to accommodate post-Panamax vessels, the transformation is expected to reduce vessel turnaround time from 13 days to 3 days and offer potential freight cost savings of 25–35%, further strengthening Karachi Port as Pakistan’s premier maritime trade gateway.
