MD Sindh Solid Waste Management Board visits KATI

Managing Director of Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWM) A.D Sanjrani visited Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) and assured to control garbage and debris dumping at soundings of EMB causeway, in Malir River. He also briefed KATI regarding future plans of SSWM regarding industrial solid waste management. On this occasion President KATI Tariq Malik, Senior Vice President Salman Aslam, Vice President Junaid Naqi, CEO/Chairman KITE DMC Zubair Chhaya, Masood Naqi and other also expressed their views regarding garbage related concerns of industry. MD SSWM told that the board has collected data of garbage quantity and also collected information of different nature of the garbage produced by industries in Karachi. He said that consultant has been hired to draw a detail and comprehensive strategy to recycle all type of solid waste on the city.

President KATI Tariq Malik said that cleanliness of the city is a large concern of the industry as well the citizens. He urged the board to consult the industrial sector as well for any future measures.

CEO and Chairman KITE Zubair Chhaya said that since years SSWM has established but not seems to be functional, it is time to play an affective role for the board. Masood Naqi told the MD that despite many legal restrictions and complains by industry dumbing at surrounding areas of EBM causeway in Malir River area wasn’t stopped yet. He said we have been warned the authorities that this could cause a huge crisis anytime in the future. MD SSWB assured that all required measures to restrict dumping of garbage and debris in Malir River would be taken soon.
