(KATI) Saleem-uz-Zman has urged the government for establishing a comprehensive policy frame work for gas supply to industries and hoped that the government will honor its promises of gas supply to industrial power plants.

In a statement he mentioned that in the meeting of Sindh Industrial Liaison Committee (SILC) at Governor House, chaired by Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, SAPM on petroleum Nadeem Baber and SAPM on Energy Tabish Gohar clarified the implication of government’s decision regarding gas supply for industrial power plants. Saleem-uz-Zaman said that the decision caused panic among industrialists and the foreign buyers of our exports goods due to impression that government was putting a blanket ban on gas supply to industry, however government representatives had clarified their position.

President KATI said that government also ensured to facilitate third party LNG suppliers to provide gas to industry and reduction in charges of new industrial connections was also promised.

Saleem-uz-Zaman said due to interruption in supply and an insufficient power infrastructure industry had acquired the power generation facility to maintain production and in many cases the standard of the products. “Industrialists have invested hugely to meet their power needs, if government want any changes in the regime, a well deliberate policy frame work should be provided for dependable alternative” he added. He said that this issues was addressed by the government in a reconciliatory manner, it should be praised and we are also thankful to Governor Sindh Imran Ismail for playing key role to gather all the stack holders. Saleem-uz-Zaman said that it was agreed that SILC will meet fortnightly to review industry’s concern, this is a good sign and this body should continue to work in the same manner. He said that former President of KATI and Coordinator of SICL Zahid Saeed also played a vital role to make this committee effective. President KATI said that PM Khan has a vision for industrialization and increase in exports, we expect that this would also transmit in the industry related policy making of the country.
