Additional IG Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon visits KATI

Safe Korangi project is beneficial for security, concealment of crime is to give free license to criminals, the case from the crime scene unit gives better results, we are going to upgrade the investigation branch. We have 11 crime scene units. These remarks were expressed by Additional Inspector General Sindh Police Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon while addressing businessmen and industrialists at a luncheon meeting given in his honor at the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI). Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan, Chairman and CEO KITE DMC Zubair Chhaya, Chairman KATI Law and Order Committee Nadeem Khan, Ikram Rajput also addressed the gathering. Earlier, KATI President Sheikh Umer Rehan welcomed Additional IG Sindh Police Ghulam Nabi Memon at Korangi Association of Trade & Industry. He said that Additional IG has graced us today to inaugurate Safe Korangi Project.

He informed that there is no monitoring system on incoming and outbound routes in Korangi for which police in Korangi Industrial Area have been contacted. Umer Rehan said that command and control system will be installed in KATI building and all arrangements will be made with the Sindh police. President KATI informed that Mehran Town has also become an industrial area. He highlighted that there are major problems with regard to occupation of industrialists’ property in Mehran Town. In order to solve these problems, Karachi Police should provide protection to the properties of industrialists in Mehran Town.

Sheikh Umer Rehan appreciated SSP Korangi Faisal Abdullah Chachar and SSP Ali Raza to provide better services to the people. He also announced gold medal for both outstanding police officers. Nadeem Khan said that street crimes have increased in Korangi industrial area and if the number of personnel is increased then its rate will decrease. Zubair Chhaya said that Safe Korangi project is a good effort to monitor and eradicate crime. If police provide data of employees working in industries, it will help in eliminating those involved in crime. Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan said that after taking over the post of Additional IG Ghulam Nabi Memon, the reform process in the police department has improved. However, he said that there is room for further improvement. Additional IG Sindh Karachi Ghulam Nabi Memon addressed the industrialists and viewed that the Safe Korangi Project is beneficial for security, concealing crime is to give free license to criminals, he said that the case created by the crime scene unit gives better results while for better investigation of the police investigation branch, we are going to upgrade. He mentioned that we have created 11 crime scene units. He said that if the public, police and media work together, the crime and crime rate will come down. Ghulam Nabi Memon said that no matter how much crime is criticized, it is pivotal that crime is registered as it provides an opportunity to eliminate the activities of criminals. SHO’s are being posted on merit, about 7,000 cameras have been installed and another 10,000 cameras will be installed. On this occasion, Danish Khan, Masood Naqi, Ehteshamuddin, Sheikh Fazal Jalil, SM Yahya, Saleem-uz-Zaman, DIG Noman Siddiqui, Javed Ali Mehar, SSP Korangi Faisal Abdullah Chachar, Latif Ahmed Siddiqui, Shahnawaz Chandio other senior Police officials and industrialists also attended the meeting.
