Veon CEO lauds Mobilink Bank’s 35% green energy transition

Mobilink Bank is pioneering sustainable banking in Pakistan, focusing on an ESG-led transformation to become a responsible, future-ready financial institution. With over one-third of its branch network powered by renewable energy, the Bank is leading the transition to low-carbon, inclusive finance.

Kaan Terzioglu, CEO of VEON Group, recently visited Mobilink Bank to review its digital-first model, customer innovations, and sustainability efforts. He noted, “Mobilink Bank’s progress in integrating sustainability is impactful. The scale of green financing and digital access shows its commitment to responsible growth.”

Haaris Mahmood Chaudhary, President and CEO of Mobilink Bank, stated, “Sustainability is our growth engine. We’re building a leading bank for small businesses with a digital-first, ESG-driven model.” The bank has allocated PKR 2.9 billion in green financing for clean energy and mobility solutions and transitioned 35% of its branches to renewable energy.

To support its sustainability agenda, the Bank is implementing a data-driven decarbonization framework, measuring baseline emissions at 4,489 metric tons of CO₂. Mobilink Bank is also advancing social inclusion, benefiting over 31,000 women in 2025 and supporting a PKR 50.30 billion loan portfolio for small businesses. Initiatives like solarising a Digital Arts Lab at a girls’ school show their commitment to community development.

As sustainability becomes crucial in banking, Mobilink Bank’s integrated ESG approach drives economic empowerment and innovation for a more inclusive, future-ready Pakistan.
