Usman Institute organizes seminar by GCIP Pakistan and United Nations Industrial Development Organization

Adhering to its fundamental mission to be a frontrunner in Pakistan’s education area, Pakistan’s leading science and technology institution, Usman Institute of Technology (UIT) recently organized a seminar by GCIP (Global Cleantech Innovation Programme) Pakistan and UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization). The event was attended by UIT faculty members and students and the subject of discussion at the seminar was ‘Convert your Clean Technology into a Successful Business’.

The seminar was arranged in light of UIT’s sustained and consolidated efforts to train its students in order to enable them to excel in their professional careersupon graduation. Over 200 students of Usman Institute of Technology participated in the workshop with great enthusiasm and tried to make most of the rare opportunity to learn from the experts.

Sharing her thoughts on the occasion,ShahinaWaheed,National Project Coordinator, GCIP Pakistan, UNIDO, said: “Pakistan is a land of immense talent. There are organizations like GCIP and UNIDO that seek out brilliant minds who can come up with innovative, scalable and affordable solutions that will enable not only their countries,but alsothe world to leapfrog to cleaner and more resilient economies.” Adding to this, ParkashLohana, Head of Computer Science Department, UIT, stated, “We at UIT consider ourselves extremely fortunate to have been able to grab ahold of this opportunity and hope to make our mark on this world making it a better place for future generations to come.”

Through this cleantech ecosystem and accelerator approach, UNIDO and GCIP seek to catalyse investments to support and accelerate start-up from UIT towards the development and commercialization of their innovative ideas.

In the end, Dr. Zahir Ali Syed, Director, UIT, appreciated the efforts of ParkashLohana, Head of Computer Science Department, UIT for arranging such a fruitful seminar and giving students the opportunity to gain insights into ways to build businesses that not only benefit them but the world and environment around them.
