As a prodigious testament to the excellence of the institute’s faculty, Usman Institute of Technology Professor has bagged the much coveted ‘Best Research Paper Award’, at the ‘IEEE 13th International Colloquium on Signal Processing & its Application (CSPA 2017)’, held in Malaysia. Engr. Dr. Jawwad Ahmad, an Assistant Professor in Electrical Engineering Department of UIT, presented his research paper, “FCLMS: Fractional Complex LMS Algorithm for Complex System Identification” at the Colloquium. The conference was chaired by noted scientist Dr. Ruhizan Liza Ahmad Shauri, Professor at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). Surpassing papers penned by scientists from numerous top universities from a number of countries; the research went on to win the Best Paper Awardand brought the much deserved global recognition to Usman Institute of Technology (UIT).

The paper is a collaborative effort of three International universities; including Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (Korea), King Abdulaziz University (Saudia Arabia),University of Malaya (Malaysia), and two National universities, in which Dr. Jawwad leads the five researchers’ team credited in the manuscript.

The research has been deemed a major breakthrough in the field of Signal Processing that deals with the Multiple Modern Complicated Problems (MMCP) of fields like Medical, Telecommunication, Bio-informatics, Robotics, etc.

Sharing his thoughts on the success, Engr. Dr. Jawwad Ahmad, said, “I am grateful to my parents and family, andI am also thankful to UIT for all the support, research environment,and the suitable platform that enabled me to bring out the paper. I am looking forward to continuing my contribution for the creation of the scientific knowledge.”
