The Sui Southern Gas Company, in its franchise provinces of Sindh and Balochistan, has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards the rising incidences of gas theft. The Company’s Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operations Department (SS&CGTO), along with the Customer Relations Department (CRD) and Recovery Department, have been conducting surveys to identify colonies affected by theft and executing raids to halt this menace, which has been disrupting the peaceful lives of citizens.
Recently, the teams carried out a massive number of raids in Balochistan, where 960 illegal connections were identified and removed on the spot. Gas was being stolen directly from the Company’s main distribution line via overhead and underground clamps and being supplied to multiple households. All material/ equipment being used for gas theft was removed on the spot, and appropriate claims will be raised against all the culprits involved in this crime against society.
Meanwhile, in Hyderabad, during a scheduled underground leak survey at Tando Agha City area, leakage spots were identified, upon which excavation was carried out, where 50+ underground theft clamps were exposed that had been installed on SSGC’s pipeline, which was supplying gas to 100+ households. Theft clamps were removed, necessary repair & maintenance work was carried out, and all illegal connections were disconnected.
Gas theft is a serious crime against the community, and SSGC urges its esteemed customers to come forward and report incidences of gas theft so that this menace can be uprooted from society. The customer may inform the Company via 1199 (official helpline) or by messaging on any one of the social media platforms.
