A function, contained speeches, tableau and dua-i-Said to commemorate the memory of Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said on the occasion of his 19th martyrdom day was held recently on the theme: “Sahaheed-i-Pakistan a symbol of national unity” at a local hotel.

Speaking on the occasion the Chief Guest and former Senator, Abdul Haseeb Khan said that a true national leader and ruler should be an intelligent, visionary, man of independent thinking who could be able to make dreams come true like Quaid-i-Azam Muhammed Ali Jinnah and Liaquat Ali Khan; Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said also matched the standard of a true national leader. If the leaders would not come up to this required standard, the result would be the same as was being happened at Islamabad at the moment, he added.

‘The country is under the burden of billions of dollars foreign loan and its interest goes to millions of dollars per annum. It is because of mismanagement, corruption and lack of integrity on the part of our leaders and rulers,’he lamented and further said that the first quality of a true leader was that he must be a diehard honest who did not allow to spend even a single pie from national exchequer without need; he must be an educator, a motivator, a mobilizer who can mobilize people as Quaid-i-Azam did during Pakistan movement and a far sighted man who should keep an eye on future of the new generation, Hakim Said did the same, he added.

Earlier Mrs. Sadia Rashid, President, Hamdard Foundation Pakistan while addressing the function said that the training of a child started from the lap of a mother and right from home, therefore parents should start training of their children at home and didn’t leave this task at the mercy of schools and other education places. Shaheed Hakim Mohammed Said always emphasized on training of children and said that without training education would not be fruitful, she added.

She said that her father, Hakim Said had caused her to pass through a vigorous training and as a result she became disciplined to follow the principle of early to bed early to rise, adopted simplicity as she used to iron her cloths, polish her shoes and go to school by bus, though there was no dearth of vehicles at her home. It was also a part of Hakim Sahib’s training that she would come office, after joining Hamdard, by a high roof, holding tiffin in one hand and water cooler in other, she informed.

Hakim Mohammed Usman, Dy. Director, Hamdard Foundation Pakistan and young speakers also spoke. Paying glowing tribute to Hakim Said they said that they would make Pakistan, free from provincialism, sectarianism and racialism and convert it into a united country according to the dreams of Quaid-i-Azam and Shaheed-i-Pakistan Hakim Said.
