Malik Muhammad Bostan, Chairman of the Currency Exchange Companies Association, praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s Ramadan initiative to support the poor and middle class.
He emphasized the need for financial aid and subsidies on essential food items for low-income families in Pakistan. Bostan urged the federal and provincial governments to create a transparent system for Ramadan, as previous utility stores had been shut down due to mismanagement. He called for an effective Ramadan package to begin in February, enabling deserving families to observe the month with dignity.
Last year, the government provided 10,000 rupees to each eligible family and subsidies on essential goods, benefiting 4 million families. Bostan welcomed these efforts and expressed hope for increased financial assistance in 2026.
