Pakistan automotive industry sold 11,034 units in July 2025

AHL Research has released a report on the sales of the Pakistan Automobile Assemblers Sector for July 2025. According to the report, auto sales declined by 49% month-on-month (MoM) but increased by 28% year-on-year (YoY).

In July 2025, the automotive industry sold 11,034 units, which represents a 49% decrease compared to the previous month. However, it reflects a 28% increase compared to July of the previous year, as reported by PAMA. The month-on-month decline is primarily attributed to the high base effect from June 2025, when sales surged due to pre-buying ahead of anticipated increases in vehicle taxes. These included the imposition of the EV adoption levy and a rise in sales tax on 850cc vehicles from 12.5% to 18% under the fiscal year 2026 federal budget.

Breaking down the segments, the 1,300cc and above category experienced a 37% MoM decline, with sales dropping to 4,290 units. The 1,000cc segment saw a 61% MoM decrease, totaling only 264 units sold. Additionally, the segment below 1,000cc recorded a 75% MoM decline, with sales reaching 2,557 units.

Indus Motor Company Ltd (INDU) reported a 9% MoM decline in sales for July 2025, totaling 3,337 units. This decrease was largely due to a 17% MoM reduction in sales of the Corolla, Yaris, and Corolla Cross models. However, sales of the Fortuner and Hilux increased by 17% MoM.

Pak Suzuki Motor Company Ltd (PSMC) experienced a significant 72% MoM decline in sales, totaling 3,450 units. All models within the company saw decreases, with the Swift, Cultus, Ravi, Wagon R, Alto, and Every experiencing MoM declines of 71%, 54%, 42%, 84%, 75%, and 66%, respectively.

Honda Atlas Cars (HCAR) reported a 17% MoM decline in sales during July 2025, driven by a 33% MoM drop in sales of the Civic and City models, while sales of the BR-V and HR-V increased significantly, rising 3.6 times MoM.

Sazgar Engineering (SAZEW) reported a 20% MoM decrease in sales, with 1,079 units sold. This decline was primarily due to a 19% MoM decrease in Haval sales.

Two-wheeler sales volumes fell by 11% MoM in July 2025, with Atlas Honda (ATLH) achieving sales of 104,276 units, reflecting a 10% MoM decrease.

Sales of three-wheelers declined by 47% MoM in July 2025, with Sazgar Engineering reporting sales of 1,414 units, marking a 42% MoM decline.

Tractor sales also showed a significant decline of 57% on a MoM basis in July 2025. AGTL reported a 41% MoM decrease in sales, with total units sold amounting to 320, while MTL experienced a 61% MoM decline, arriving at 875 units.
