Malik Muhammad Bostan, Chairman of the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (ECAP), has welcomed the government’s long-term wheat policy for 2026–2030, stating it will enhance national food security. The policy includes a digital traceability system, improved supply chain monitoring, and sustainable price stability, facilitating better coordination between federal and provincial governments.
Bostan emphasised that, while there’s no immediate threat of a wheat shortage, procurement should be conducted through the public sector to maintain supply stability. He also noted that surplus wheat should be exported. Highlighting the strengthening of foreign exchange reserves and the stability of the dollar rate, he emphasised the need for robust proposals to boost national exports, particularly in the textile sector.
