KATI urges for lower energy prices to boost exports

President of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) Masood Naqi, Senior Vice President Ghazanfar Ali Khan and Umer Rehan urged the government to reduce gas and electricity tariff for the export-oriented industry and termed this as need of time, in a joint statement released by the association. It is also mentioned that low cost energy is now become the prerequisite to make local goods competitive on the world markets.

President of KATI Masood Naqi Said that regional countries were providing incentives to their export sector. “The price of gas and electricity is about 50 per cent less in other countries of the region, cheap labor is available there and due to these reasons their exports had witnessed substantial increase” he mentioned. Masood Naqi Also urged the government to reduce the price of gas, besides slashing the power tariff to give a boost to the industrial sector and low production cost. He also said these measures would be helpful in reviving the exports sector by rapid industrial growth, which would also create employment opportunities on large scale. He said that exports play a vital role in keeping the economy stable there is urgent need to facilitate the sector. He further said that Prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi were taken important decisions immediate basis, industrial sector sees hope for their concerns would be resolved at the same pace.
