FBR assured to release refunds soon, says FTO Sukheera

Federal Tax Ombudsman Mushtaq Ahemd Sukheera has said that FBR assured release of Pending refunds soon. While taking to a meeting on his visit to Kornagi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) he said that notices released without barcode would be taken as criminal offence. He also said that in his recent meeting with FBR officials he has directed to facilitate tax filers and to provide relief of two years gap for the submission of general audit. On this occasion President KATI Tariq Malik, Vice President Junaid Naqi, head of KATI’s Standing committee on FBR, SBI and Taxation Rashid Siddqui, Zubair Chhaya, Masood Naqi, Akbar Farooqui and other also addressed the meeting.

FTO Mushtaq Sukheera said that cost of production and doing business has been raised so high, other problems are there as well, in these situation spirit of business community is remarkable. He told that recently in a meeting with officials of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) he raised many concerns related to problems faced by business community regarding taxation and due refunds. He told that FBR has assured to release tax refunds soon.

Prior to this, President KATI Tariq Malik welcomed FTO on his visit to the association and briefed about Korangi Industrial Area and concerns of industry sector. He said that while authorities holding the dues of industry and exports sectors, both are facing a great financial pressure due to this delay. He lends hope that FTO will play affective role to resolve this long awaited problem.
Head of KATI’s standing committee on FBR, SRB and Taxation Rashid Siddiqui said that industry and exporters bring foreign currency in country with collective effort and hard work, but we spend great bunch of our foreign reserves for payment of many unnecessary imports. He was of view that FBR can solve many of industry’s problems by taking right measures. On this occasion CEO KITE DMC Zbuair Chhaya said that divide between filler and non-filer only benefited the non-fillers and raised problems of taxpayers. He asked that why FBR and tax regime only focus revenue despite of economy and growth of industry. Chaya was of the view that due to procedural issue filers become so irritated that we wish a law should introduce to allow a filler to be transferred as non-filler category. Immediate past president of KATI Masood Naqi said that growth of economy has been stuck. He suggested to form a “National Economic Council” on the pattern of national Security Council to make broad based policies. In a question answer session FTO Mushtaq Ahmed Sukheera said the FTO has a full authority to take “Sou Motu” action regarding taxation issues, he also assured that anyone can complain, individually or collectively to FTO and we will provide any possible relief under the law.
