Automobile production on the rise in country

Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) released auto numbers, where sales volume (excluding m. bikes) increased by 5%YoY to 203k units in 9MFY17, as compared to 194k units in the SPLY. Similarly on monthly basis auto sales in Mar’17 surged by 7%MoM to 28k units, as against26k units in Feb’17.

Overall auto sales surge up by 7%MoM In Mar’17 automobile sales (excluding motor bikes) registered at 28k units relative to 26k units in the last month. Category wise data depicts car sales in Mar’17 remained strong and up by 7%MoM to 18k units. Similarly tractor sales also enhanced by 18%MoM to 6.6k units on the back of improving farm agronomics.

Company wise data showed that, sales volume of HCAR, PSMC and INDU moved northward by 1%MoM, 4%MoM and 7%MoM respectively.

Furthermore tractor sales volume of AGTL and MTL also hiked by 25%MoM and 13%MoM respectively. In Jul-Mar’17, overall auto sales recorded growth of 5%YoY to 203k units (excluding motorbikes). The growth was mainly supported by improved sales of tractor, trucks and buses by 73%YoY, 42%YoY and 22%YoY respectively. The growth of trucks and buses sales volume was attributed to healthy economic activities in country. Auto sales volumes to continue upward trajectory as GDP is projected to grow by 5% in FY17.
