Syed Shujaat Ali has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of the Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA) Central for the year 2018-2019 in the 1st Meeting of newly elected 17th Central Executive Board held in PLGMEA Offices, Karachi and Sialkot recently. The Board Members applauded the services of outgoing Chairman Hassan Ali Bhatti.

The Board also approved the nomination of Sh. Attique-ur-Rehman Ratra as Senior Vice Chairman and Mr. Shahid Malik were elected as Vice Chairman of the Association from Northern and Southern Zones respectively.

Syed Shujaat was elected 1st time the Chairman Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (Central Office). He has been elected Chairman of PLGMEA Southern Zone previously.

The announcement was made at the 16th Annual General Body Meeting of the Association held on 29th September 2018 evening under the Chairmanship of outgoing Chairman Mr. Hassan Ali Bhatti. Patron-in-Chief Mr. Fawad Ijaz Khan, Ch. Zulfiqar Hayat, Patron, Mr. Mohammad Danish Khan, Mr. Rizwan Rashid, Mr. Muhammad Saleem, , Muhammad Aslam, Kashif Rahim and other senior members present on the occasion of AGM congratulated newly elected office bearers on being elected unopposed.

The new Chairman, S. Shujaat Ali thanked the Patron-in-Chief Mr. Fawad Ijaz Khan, Ch. Zulfiqar Hayat, Patron Mr. Saleem Ahmed and all the members of the incoming Executive Board for the confidence reposed in him by electing him the Chairman of this prestigious Association of Industry.

He warned the members of the difficult time, ahead in the aftermath worldwide economic crunch. He said that he would try to capitalize the merit of the only value-added Leather Sector of the country.

He said that industrial cost structuring needs improvement by policy support of the Government. Fiscal, Monitory, Tariffs and Taxation needs rationalization
