During a recent Direct Line webinar organized by the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker emphasized the growing opportunities for U.S. businesses in Pakistan’s agricultural technology sector. The webinar brought together American businesses, Pakistani officials, and agricultural producers, focusing on how U.S. agricultural innovations can modernize Pakistan’s agricultural sector while creating mutual commercial opportunities.

Chargé Baker highlighted agriculture’s critical role in Pakistan’s economy, contributing about 25% of GDP and supporting millions of livelihoods. She stressed that U.S. technology and expertise can open new markets and enhance prosperity for both countries.

Baker noted, “American companies are well positioned to bring their expertise, technologies, and decades of practical experience.” The U.S. Mission in Pakistan aims to further bilateral trade, which reached over $1.5 billion in agricultural exports in 2025.

Pakistani officials presented regulatory changes to support more U.S. agricultural imports and encouraged investment in areas like farm mechanization and biotechnology. Baker highlighted the benefits of U.S. investments, saying they foster knowledge sharing and sustainable economic growth.

The webinar also introduced the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Certified Agricultural Technologies Trade Mission to Pakistan, scheduled for October 26-30, 2026, encouraging American companies to explore opportunities in the sector. Baker expressed the U.S. Embassy’s commitment to supporting American businesses in Pakistan.
