A delegation of HCSTSI visited the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Hyderabad

A delegation led by the President of the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry, Muhammad Saleem Memon, visited the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Hyderabad on August 3, 2026, at the invitation of the Chief Commissioner of Inland Revenue, Sajjad Akbar Shah. In the meeting, detailed discussions were held on tax-related issues faced by traders and industrialists, government facilities and promotion of mutual cooperation.

On this occasion, President Chamber Saleem Memon appreciated the initiative of the FBR to establish positive and constructive relations with the business community and said that traders and industrialists are the backbone of the country’s economy; therefore, continuous communication between institutions and the private sector is indispensable for immediate and permanent solutions to their problems.

He proposed setting up a joint coordination committee comprising FBR Hyderabad and the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry, with three representatives from the Chamber and three from the FBR, so that the issues faced by the business community could be resolved through mutual consultation immediately. The Commissioner Inland Revenue agreed to the proposal, approved the establishment of this committee, and announced that its formal notification would be issued soon. Saleem Memon said that the establishment of this joint committee would further strengthen trust between the FBR and the business community, eliminate misunderstandings, resolve tax-related issues in a timely manner, and promote a voluntary tax culture, which would also benefit the national economy.

Talking to the delegation, Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue Sajjad Akbar Shah assured that traders and industrialists will not be harassed unnecessarily as per the policy of the Federal Board of Revenue. He said that the FBR considers the business community as its partner and the institution aims to provide a simple, friendly and convenient system while increasing the tax net. He further said that all the important schemes and facilities to be introduced by the federal government and the FBR in the future will be ensured in Hyderabad as well, while before their implementation, the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry will be taken into confidence so that the opinions and suggestions of the business community can also be incorporated.

On this occasion, Commissioner Inland Revenue Zone II, Shamim Murtaza, gave a detailed briefing on the procedures introduced under SRO-1166. Explaining the completion of the initial tax form of Rs 25,000, the registration procedure and its legal requirements, he said that this scheme is for those who make transactions of less than Rs 200 million. The aim of this initiative is to include the business community in the tax system in an easy, transparent and organized manner. He said that this system will provide traders and industrialists with relief from unnecessary complications in the future, a better documentation system, more opportunities to benefit from government incentives and various schemes, while also promoting trust and transparency in business activities. He said that all businesses included in the tax net will be issued a green number plate by the FBR, which can be displayed prominently at their shop or business center. Businesses with this green number plate were told that FBR officials will not visit their business centers for routine operations, while they will also be exempted from routine audits.

On this occasion, HCSTSI Senior Vice President Ahmed Idrees Chohan, former presidents Muhammad Farooq Shaikhani, Saleemuddin Qureshi, FBR Sub-committee Co-Convenors Arif Memon and Sanawer Qureshi, senior members Dr. Muhammad Ismail Farouk Nami, Sikandar Ali Rajput, Kashif Shaikh, Shahid Qaimkhani, Hyderabad SITE Association Trade and Industry Senior Vice Chairman Aamir Shahab and Vice Chairman Esaar Kumar were also present in the delegation.
