Javed Shams, president of Anjuman-e-Tajiran Karachi, has sounded the alarm over the deteriorating economic and civic conditions in the city, urging immediate action to prevent permanent decline. He introduced a five-point reform agenda focused on promoting business and job creation, crucial for addressing the high youth unemployment rate.

Shams identified key issues, including crumbling roads, a lack of reliable public transport, and outdated infrastructure, as significant barriers to economic growth. He called for urgent investments in these areas, emphasizing that access to clean drinking water, electricity, and gas is a fundamental right for citizens and essential for business operations.

He also highlighted the need for quality education and healthcare, warning that neglecting these services hinders sustainable growth. Furthermore, he advocated for efforts to clean and green Karachi, arguing that an attractive, well-maintained city draws investment and boosts productivity.

Shams concluded by encouraging all Karachi citizens to contribute to the city’s revival, stating that collective effort is essential to restore Karachi as the vibrant City of Lights it once was.
