Novo Nordisk launches “Live Lighter” initiative in Pakistan to address obesity

Novo Nordisk launches “Live Lighter” initiative in Pakistan to address obesity at the Mohatta Palace in Karachi. The event gathered healthcare leaders and policymakers to discuss the growing issue of obesity, which is linked to over 200 medical conditions, such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

H.E. Maja Mortensen, Ambassador of Denmark to Pakistan, highlighted the need for collaboration in tackling obesity. Prof. Emerita Tasnim Ahsan from the Medicell Institute emphasized that medical intervention is often necessary for weight management and urged patients to consult their doctors about available options.

Rashed Rafique Butt, a representative from Novo Nordisk Pakistan, stated that obesity should not be seen as just a matter of willpower. Novo Nordisk, with over a century of experience in diabetes care and chronic disease treatment, is committed to advancing obesity care globally, including in Pakistan. The company is focused on expanding access to innovative treatments, such as Wegovy®️ (semaglutide 2.4mg), approved by major regulatory authorities, to improve patients’ lives.
