Spotify is introducing a new optional feature called Artist Profile Protection, now in beta, which lets artists review and approve releases before they go live on their profile.
This helps address issues such as incorrect attributions caused by metadata errors or duplicate names, which can affect artists’ catalogues and how listeners find their music. With this feature, artists will get email notifications for music associated with their name and can choose to approve or reject each release. Approved releases will appear on their profile and contribute to their stats, while rejected ones will not.
Additionally, artists will receive a unique key to share with trusted providers for automatic pre-approval. Currently in beta, Spotify is collecting feedback to improve the feature before a wider rollout. Artists not in the beta will continue using Spotify normally.
