On 29 Mar 2026, Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed SI (M) S. Bt (Retd), Chairman KPT, along with KPT officials, undertook a detailed visit of various port areas to oversee ongoing massive cargo operations. It may be noted that 18 ships are presently berthed at KPT, and 7 ships are likely to arrive within the next 24 hours.
The Chairman also reviewed the associated security and safety arrangements from the Port Operations centre, the nerve centre of all safety & security operations. Commandant Port Security Force briefed him about the overall arrangements.
During the visit, the Chairman highly appreciated the involvement of the Ladies PSF staff in sensitive security operations.
The KPT team also visited all the Oil Piers and the East Wharf to earmark suitable areas that require minor adjustments to accommodate additional cargo, containers, and vehicles, to capitalise on the current opportunity to handle Transhipment cargo, with particular focus on handling vehicles/cars.
Subsequently, the Chairman also visited the KPT Sports Complex at West Wharf. The Chairman is directed to make the best use of all the facilities, including their use by other institutions, to accrue maximum benefits for the KPT and for the community.
