Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs announces expansion of PNSC fleet

In a significant move for the country’s maritime sector, Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry has issued directives for the acquisition of new vessels. This initiative aims to enhance the fleet of the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation (PNSC), with plans to expand it to a total of fifteen ships.
As part of this expansion, three oil tankers are set to be added to the fleet by December of this year.
Minister Junaid Anwar Chaudhry emphasized the strategic vision of the PNSC, setting an ambitious goal to grow its fleet to thirty ships by the year 2026. The purchase of three new vessels has already been approved, with the ships earmarked to be named MT Karachi, Lahore, and Quetta, reflecting significant urban centers in Pakistan.
To further bolster maritime capacity, new tenders for additional ship acquisitions are in the pipeline, signaling a commitment to enhancing the country’s shipping capabilities and contributing to economic growth. This thrilling development represents a proactive step toward strengthening Pakistan’s position in the maritime industry.
