The 4th Global Youth Conference (GYC) Malaysia, themed “Disrupt the Ordinary: Youth at the Frontlines of Global Reset”, brought together changemakers from across the world to exchange ideas, inspire innovation, and shape impactful solutions for the future. Among the distinguished voices was Anum Shakeel, a celebrated Pakistani storyteller, social impact strategist, and the recipient of the Global Changemaker Award 2025.

Anum Shakeel, currently serving as Head of Media and Communications at the Sindh Institute of Child Health and Neonatology (SICHN), took the stage in the Youth Storytelling session on Day 1 of the conference at Asia Pacific University. Known for her compelling storytelling and advocacy for health equity, early childhood development, and women’s empowerment, Anum shared her journey of transforming narratives into tangible impact.

Recognized as a Global Changemaker Award winner, Anum has dedicated over 14 years to bridging gaps between industry, academia, and public health initiatives in Pakistan. Her initiatives in digital advocacy, mental health awareness, and inclusive leadership for women in the workplace have touched countless lives. This award highlighted her role in amplifying the voices of young people and championing solutions for the most vulnerable populations, particularly children in underserved communities.

“Storytelling isn’t just about sharing experiences; it’s about reshaping mindsets and inspiring action. I believe that when young people claim their voices, they drive the kind of change the world urgently needs,” said Anum Shakeel during her address.

Anum’s participation at the GYC 2025 reinforced the power of youth leadership in achieving a sustainable and inclusive global future, inspiring emerging leaders to challenge norms and lead with purpose.
