Sindh Minister for Energy, Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, commended Malik Khuda Bakhsh, Convener of the FPCCI Energy Committee, for his efforts in installing electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment across Pakistan. He stated that Sindh is poised for a significant shift in the energy sector, with affordable electricity from the Nooriabad Power Plant and plans for further supply. However, K-Electric’s concerns over fossil fuel prices were seen as unnecessary.
Malik Khuda Bakhsh highlighted that the establishment of EV manufacturing plants and charging stations is crucial for addressing the energy crisis and spurring economic revival. During the FPCCI Energy Committee meeting, Shah announced that the Sindh government would not tax solar energy to promote its use.
Shah expressed that Sindh aims for energy self-sufficiency through natural resources and can supply electricity nationwide with federal cooperation. He mentioned a shipment for EV manufacturing had arrived, led by China’s ADN Group, with plans for 3,000 charging stations across the country. Initial installations in Karachi are at three locations, with additional sites planned throughout the province. Bakhsh noted that foreign investors are increasingly interested in Pakistan’s stabilizing economy.
