Indus Motor Company (IMC) hosted the Senate Standing Committee on Industries and Production, led by Senator Aon Abbas, for a tour of its advanced manufacturing facility. The delegation, including several other senators and Ministry representatives, received insights into IMC’s operations and its contributions to the “Make in Pakistan” initiative, particularly in localization and employment generation.
The senators were impressed by the scale and efficiency of IMC’s vehicle manufacturing plant, noting its recognition as a “Zero Defect Facility” under Toyota’s global standards. Chairman Senator Aon Abbas praised the local automotive sector’s role in industrial growth and job creation and reiterated government support for domestic manufacturing.
CEO Ali Asghar Jamali emphasized the need for a stable automotive policy framework to realize the sector’s potential and expressed concerns over the rising import of used cars, which threaten local production and jobs. The visit ended with a call for collaborative policymaking to enhance the auto industry and strengthen Pakistan’s industrial base.
