Secretary Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage (IBNH) Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqui Thursday directed PID, PEMRA, PBC and PTV to ensure the norms of morality, decency and ethics in advertisements, publications and broadcasts. The secretary, who appeared before the Islamabad High Court on an urgent notice in the blasphemy case, conveyed in writing the apex court’s directives to Press Information Department (PID), Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) and Pakistan Television (PTV) that “advertisements, publications and broadcasts must adhere to norms of morality, decency and ethics.”

Shoaib asked heads of the organizations concerned to give due attentions towards sensitive issues to protect moral and social fabric of the society. “Any contradiction be dealt with effectively under the law,” he remarked.
