Convener of Pak-China Parliamentary Friendship Group Senator Saleem Mandviwalla has hosted dinner in honor of the Ambassador of People’s Republic of China H.E Mr. Yao Jing in Islamabad.
The members of the Senate Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue and the Pakistan-China Parliamentary Friendship Group attended the Dinner.
While Addressing the Dinner Senator Saleem Mandviwalla said that “Over the last two decades, the two countries have made a strategic shift by moving in the direction of investment, and economic cooperation.
He said that “We worked hard to hand over Gawadar Port to Chinese. I recall whenever We met Win Ja Bao, ex-premier to China he used to ask when are you handing over Gawadar Port”.
Senator Saleem Mandviwalla said that “China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is a flagship initiative of the leadership of the two countries. It is part of the vision of President Xi and Chinese Premier H.E Li Keqiang, who had conceived the idea of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI)”.
I take pride in the fact that CPEC is the culmination of discussions between President Zardari and the Chinese leadership. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor agreements were signed in Islamabad on 22nd May, 2013, witnessed by President Zardari and Premier Li Keqiang.
Senator Saleem Mandviwalla said that “I feel passionately about The Special Economic Zones (SEZs) as It took my team and I almost three years to complete the legislative process of SEZ’s. The Chinese exponential economic development achieved through the creation of SEZ clusters was the motivation behind it. We have to learn a lot from our Chinese friend on this account”.
Ambassador of People’s Republic of China H.E Mr. Yao Jing said that “Sino Pak relations are most integral part of China’s Foreign policy. Our relations are driving force for the CPEC. China is Developing its Western Part, for the development of western part of china CPEC is very important. Private Sector’s Participation is necessary in CPEC Project”. He added
