Pakistan’s leather industry exports revenues maintained double-digit growth in 9MFY22

Pakistan’s leather industry exports revenues maintained double-digit growth during the first nine months of FY22 (July – March 2022).

 

The leather industry export revenue has surged to US$735.099 million in the first nine months of FY22, compared to $ 639.992 in 9MFY21, up 14.86 percent YoY, according to the data compiled by the Pakistan Bureau. The increase in exports was possible due to a noticeable increase in the export of finished leather, garments, and footwear.

 

The breakdown shows that Pakistan exported 11.754 million sqr. mtr tanned leather at $154.506 million, compared to 7.859 million sqr mtr at $113.319 million, thus recording a growth of 40.56 percent and 36.35 percent in terms of quantity and value dollar, respectively, over July – March 2021.

 

Similarly, Pakistan exported leather manufacturing worth $463.907 million during this export period; (1.321 million dozen leather garments at $237.055 million, 8.233 million dozen leather gloves at $212.987 million and other leather manufacturing $13.865 million) compared to $427.723 million in July – March 2021. It recorded an expansion of 8.46 percent.

 

Pakistan footwear export comprises 13.889 million pairs of shoes at $116.686 million during these nine months (July – March 2022) of the current financial year compared to 12.816 million pairs at $98.950 million in July-March 2021. Thus, export recorded a growth of 8.37 percent in quantity and 17.99 percent in value on a YoY basis.
