The Chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association, Sheikh Afzal Hussain alongwith the Chairman, PTA (S/Z) Mr. Abdul Salam informed in a specific press release issued to all print & electronic media that the Sector 7-A, Korangi Industrial Area, Karachi is deprived for the Supply of Basic Amenity of the Industry i.e. “Gas” for the last One Week, which is obviously leading cause for hampering all the export activities severely in lacking of basic requirement of the Industry being continuous processing Industry of the country, who is contributing to the country’s GDP significantly.

They also shared with the media that the export of Leather is already in severe clutches of declining trend for the last 6 Months continuously specially during CORONA PANDEMIC, while slight motivation/activation for the export orders is initiated now and our member exporters in the battle of survival, but this unfortunately for the deprivation of Gas Supply with required quantum/pressure is jeopardizing the whole process of export for Finished Leather with allied commodities as well, which could be broader negative impact to the upcoming export of Leather Sector.

Therefore, we strongly appeal to the Honorable Minister for Energy & Petroleum, Mr.Omer Ayub Khan and rest of allied Department, SSGC to restore the supply of Gas IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT DELAY with certain pressure un-interruptly, so that the export orders would be completed in time for onward exports to yield the sizeable foreign exchange for the country, which is desperately required by the country.
