Sindh Governor to inaugurate new school of Green Crescent Trust in THAR on 04 March

Sindh Governor Mohammad Zubair will inaugurate the new state of the art purpose-built building of 160th school of Green Crescent Trust (GCT) in THAR on 04 March, 2018. The launching of new state-of-the-art school building in Mithi, THAR would be a major milestone in the mission of the trust to provide quality school education to children of under-privileged, rural and remote areas of Sindh. The school in its new ground-plus-two storied building in Mithi, THAR will provide quality and modern education to 1500 plus children of THAR up to Class 10th on pure charitable basis in accordance with the vision of the GCT.

 “This will be our 11th school in THAR area alone showing well our resolve to serve the children of most disadvantaged area of Sindh,” the statement quoted Chief Executive Officer of GCT Zahid Saeed as saying.”  “Our donors have been outstandingly supporting us after seeing our good results as it is on basis of their support, we have been serving very well in remote areas like Thar for last 23 years,”. said CEO of GCT Zahid Saeed.

Recently Zahid Saeed met Sindh governor at Governor House, briefed about initiatives and achievements of GCT in the arena of education and also requested him to inaugurate the new building of GCT’s school in THAR. The Governor accepted the invitation and also praised the performance of GCT in far-flung areas of the province.

The new school building will combine at one place three separate schools of the GCT in Mithi as with bigger facility, via state of the art school with 27 purpose-built class rooms also including science and computer labs. GCT has in mind the target to increase students’ enrollment from present 350 to 1500 students. For the purpose, an active community engagement drive is in progress in the area as various means of mass contact and publicity are being used to motivate parents to send their wards to the school.  Best of the engagement and motivational means will be used to meet the phenomenal enrollment target in just one month’s time. Recently, the school in Mithi conducted an interactive “Open house” session with 2 thousands plus target audience was visited during 6 hours sessions. The new school building besides targeting children of Mithi, will also accommodate students of a number of villages of all tehsil of Tharparkar.

The purpose-built facility has been completed with an approximate cost of Rs. 45 million with the support of two donors. Construction of the building has been completed in the record time of just 15 months. Recently students of GCT’s schools in Thar area performed very well in the first ever Thar Science Festival held in collaboration with Sindh Government with. Over 10 students of GCT’s schools in Thar secured distinctions in the festival as one of them secured overall first position in his particular category among 5 thousands plus total students participated in the Science festival. One of the students of the GCT school in Thar who completed all his schooling till matriculation there has now become part of Thar coal and power project after getting his engineering degree.
