Provincial minister of Commerce & Industries visited KATI

Sindh’s minister of Commerce and Industries Manzoor Husain Wassan has said that all projects of roads and infrastructure development will complete till the December 31 this year. While addressing a large gathering of business community on the occasion of his visit to Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI), he said that 2017 would prove a different year for Sindh and Pakistan. Provincial minister told that Sind Revenue board has collected Rs.61bn during the fiscal year of 2015-16 and for the next year new target of Rs.71bn has been set. He also told that Rs. 2.8 billon have been allocated for the development and establishment of new industrial zones in Karachi, Hyderabad, Khairpur and Larkana. Wassan said that in the prospect of CPEC establishment of new industries is the need of hour, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to make this project fruitful for our economy. Prior to this Petron-in-chief of KATI and CEO TDAP S M Muneer said that we welcome the reorganization in Sindh government and lend hope for improvement. Muneer told the minister that business community is getting a impression that SITE Ltd. is going to shut down, senior officials are not available, and there are many reports of ill practices and corruption in process of land allotments and sale. He asked minister to take immediate action on these concerns. Replying to this minister said that he will direct to the concern departments to take action again any unlawful activates in SITE.

On this occasion President of KATI Zahid Saeed Said that Sind and especially Karachi is contributing more than half of exports and revenue of Pakistan but industry still facing basic utilities issues. He told the minister that Infrastructure, Solid waste management and distribution of water are the basic concerns of industry in Karachi. He also demanded that as 5 years ago Sind government allocated especial funds of development of Industrial areas in Karachi, again we need these funds. Wassan announced that Sind Government will continue to allocation of special funds for devilment in Industrial areas of Karachi.

Chairman Standing Committee of KATI on investment Syed Farrukh Mazhar has suggested in his speech that Sindh government should take measure to promote Foreign Direct Investment in the province, business community is ready to play its role to any extent. On this occasion Senior vice President of KATI Saleem Uzzaman, vice president Syed Wajid Hussin, former presidents of KATI Zubair Chhaya, Gulzar Firoz, Masood Naqi, Akber Farooqui, from FPCCI Zubair Tufail, Shakeel Dhengra and Shujaat Baig were also present.
