Plasti & Pack and Iftech open for trade visitors

Engr. Daroo Khan Achakzai, President, Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI) has inaugurated the 17th International Exhibition of Plastics, Printing, Plasti & Pack and 16th International Exhibition of Food & Beverage processing & packaging, IFTECH Pakistan, at Expo Centre in Karachi today.

The event is being successfully organized by Pegasus Consultancy (Pvt) Ltd., with the support of Federal and Provincial Governments. The both fairs have received tremendous response from the leading international and local companies. The exhibition is being held from August 27 to 29, at Expo Canter Karachi.

Engr. Daroo Khan Achakzai, President FPCCI on the sidelines of the inauguration, told media that Pegasus Consultancy is playing very important role in organizing such fairs on international standards for the last many years. These kinds of fairs provide a platform for local industrialist to see latest machinery and other accessories trends under one roof, necessary for setting up of new industry or for expansion program.

President, FPCCI was quite optimistic that such kind of fair will expand industrial base in country and catalyst in promoting export.

He said,” I am happy to see machinery and accessory suppliers of Italay, China, Japan, Turkey and other countries. He expressed hope that Pakistan would progress under the leadership of Imran Khan and economic crisis period would be soon over. He however, urged for consultation of apex trade body – FPCCI in economic matters for smooth sailing of the business”.

Mr. Aamer Khanzada, Managing Director of Pegasus Consultancy (Pvt.) Ltd in a message said that with each year passing, these two exhibitions are nailing their  standards by coalescing the large number of industry manufactures and suppliers form international and local markets and playing a key role for creating a healthy business market for the industry sellers and buyers. Just like previous remarkable years, this year Iftech Pakistan and Plasti&Pack exhibition will be welcoming 350 exhibiting companies from local and international territory with the representation from 35 countries.

Over the past years, numerous of state-of-the-art technologies become the highlights of display in both the exhibitions. In the food and beverage sector, Pakistan ranks as the 4th largest milk producing country in the world and 11th largest in poultry production where the export of food commodities has also increase with the current export of rice accounts for $ 1933 Million and sugar export leads to $682 Million. Along with the GDP contribution in Agriculture sector counts 18.9% with Agricultural Machinery imports counts for $1.3 Billion. Thus, reflecting the sustained growth and stability in the economy of Pakistan.

There is continuing changes molding into the plastic and packaging sector of the country which leads to current import of plastic material $2.41 Billion, imports of plastic and rubber machinery is $117.37 Million whereas, Printing Packaging machinery & parts imports holds $137 Million out which 51% holds the foreign direct investment.

It may be mentioned here that the two concurrent shows are considered to be the biggest annual gathering of plastics packaging & food technology industry suppliers, experts, professionals & businesses associates. This year, the events are showcasing latest machines and materials in injection & blow moulding, extrusion & blown film, packaging, recycling, testing, measuring & inspection equipment, food processing, beverage processing & filling, bakery, confectionary manufacturing & packaging, vegetable & fruit processing, confectionery & commercial kitchen equipment, flavours and aromatics, waste & waste water management etc.

Industry and brand owners are now fully aware and prepare to cater changing consumer demands of safety, hygiene and convenience, longer shelf life and appeal by competitive multiplicity of products and these events are fully focused in providing variety of solutions to the industry. The notion is further endorsed by the largest country participation, from China.

Over 350 companies from 35 countries will participate in these events. The countries include China, England, France, Germany, Belarus, Greece, Cyprus, Indonesia, Iran, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Netherland, Palestine, Pakistan, Korea, Spain, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Thailand, Turkey, Taiwan, UAE, UK and USA. Global food technology conference based on the theme, “Future Food tech-Reshaping the Industry Outlook”, will be held on the second day and on third day there will be global annual packaging forum on “State of Converting, Recycling & Sustainable Packaging”.

Prominent speakers from Italy, Middle East, Pakistan and UAE will present their papers at the international conference and forum. A unique feature of the exhibition is the participation of College of Tourism & Hotel Management, (COTHM), in collaboration with Chefs Association of Pakistan, to organize a “Skill Showcasing Activity”, by professional Chefs and COTHM students during the exhibition.
