Pakistan’s Liquid Foreign Reserves Position

The total liquid foreign reserves held by the country stood at US$15,473.9 million on 22March2019.The break-up of the foreign reserves position is as under:-

Foreign reserves held by the State Bank of Pakistan : US$ 8,560.9 million

Net foreign reserves held by commercial banks : US$ 6,913.0 million

Total liquid foreign reserves                  : US$ 15,473.9 million

During the week ending 22March2019, SBP reserves decreased by US$278 million to US$8,560.9 million, due to external debt servicing and other official payments.

On 25March2019, State Bank of Pakistan has received RMB 15 billion equivalent to US$2.2 billion as proceeds of the loan obtained by the government of Pakistan from China. Accordingly, on 25March2019, foreign exchange reserves held by the SBP stood at US$10.67 billion and total foreign exchange reserves of the country stood at US$17.58 billion.
