PAJCCI has successfully substantiated the vision of strengthening the trade ties in the region: Siraj Kassam Teli (S.I)

President KCCI) lauded the role of PAJCCI in alleviating mutual issues of businesses across the border in such a short span of time and established that the objective of forming this chamber has been effectively materialized.

 The meeting was held in the new office premises of PAJCCI, which was also officially inaugurated by Teli in the presence of all the members and guests.

Siraj Teli while providing the future direction emphasized that objective of this formation was not only to reduce the irritants but also to enhance trade whereby eradicating menace of parallel trade. He iterated that the Chamber has been successful in managing certain lacunas; however there is a long way to go to make the mark impressively. He mentioned that tariff disparity is incentivizing parallel trade, hence it is important for PAJCCI to advocate appropriate tariff rationalization along with strengthening confidence building measures.

 
 

The meeting was chaired by Jawaid Bilwani (President PAJCCI for 2015-16) who presented PAJCCI’s brief report of achievement and elaborated on how this relatively small chamber has been able to attain concrete status as a voice of the business community across the border. He also mentioned that PAJCCI has been expanding its reach, specifically in Punjab, whereby recently Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry has become allied chamber of PAJCCI, which will maximize representation from the diverse segments of Pakistan. He added that futuristic perspective of PAJCCI is to enhance regional trade ties and in this context two stakeholders’ meetings have been planned in Dushanbe and Tashkent in the upcoming future. 

 
 

Following these, members of the managing committee and office bearers for the year 2016-17 were announced. The new managing committee comprises of Zubair Motiwala, Zia ul Haq Sarhadi, Haji Abdul Qayyum Kakar, Jawaid Bilwani, Junaid Makda, Haji Jamaluddin, Moin Malik, Niaz Muhammad, Dureshawar Nisar, Nylla Parveen Junejo, Imtiaz Ahmad, Khalid Shahzad, Shahid Ismail.

 
 

The retiring members included Faiz Muhammad, Abdul Basit, Qazi Zahid Hussain, Zahidullah Shinwari, Akbar Khan and Imran Khan.

 
 

The office bearers for 2016-17 were unanimously chosen by the managing committee as Zubair Motiwala for the President, Zia ul Haq Sarhadi as Senior Vice President and Haji Abdul Qayyum Kakar as Vice President.

 
 

On this occasion, Zubair Motiwala thanked the forum for the vote of confidence and ensured that under visionary leadership of Siraj Teli and with collaboration from Khan Jan Alokozai, backed by due support from executive committee members of both Pakistan and Afghanistan, he would work with full dedication to expand PAJCCI exponentially in the regional context. He emphasized that with the growing focus on CPEC, the contribution of PAJCCI would also enhance and related capacity building would be done to tap the upcoming opportunities.

 
 

President Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Shamim Ahmed Firpo, also congratulated the new managing committee and office bearer and ensured the extension of unconditional support to PAJCCI in future as well. Haji Jamaluddin (retired SVP), Zia-ul-Haq Sarhadi (new SVP), Haji Abdul Qayyum Kakar (new VP) and Asad Nisar (President SITE Association of Pakistan) also shared their views, appreciated the endeavors of PAJCCI and ensured their commitment towards satiating the vision of PAJCCI.
