Education conference demands ‘Right to Education without Discrimination’

The conference organized by Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) in collaboration with the Peoples Commission for Minorities Rights (PCMR) organized urging the federal and provincial governments to undertake effective measures to ensure the ‘Right to Education without Discrimination’.

The conference resolution, unanimously adopted, called for, among other steps, the removal of hate material from educational curricula; educational quota for minorities in higher education institutes, and expansion of subject options available to minority students vis-à-vis religious education to enforce their right to study their own religion as guaranteed under Article 22 of the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973.

FPCCI organizes Press Conference on Federal Budget 2019-20

The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) called a press conference to apprise the press and media about the proposals of Federal Budget 2019-20 at Federation House Karachi. Engr. Daroo Khan Achazai, President FPCCI regretted that as per past practice the Government did not undertake the consultative sessions with FPCCI regarding the upcoming Federal Budget 2019-20.

Chughtai Art Awards Ceremony held in Bitlis

High school students in the Bitlis province of Turkey enthusiastically participated in the Chughtai Art competition, organized by the Pakistan Embassy in Ankara in collaboration with Turkey’s Ministry of National Education. The thematic focus of the competition was, “Landmarks of Pakistan.” Governor of Bitlis Oktay Çağatay, senior officials of the provincial Directorate of National Education Ministry as well as a large number of students, teachers, and families attended the Chughtai Art Awards ceremony held in Bitlis.

Overseas Pakistanis remit US $16.1 billion in the first nine months of FY19

Overseas Pakistani workers remitted US $16096.33 million in the first nine months (July to March) of FY18, showing a growth of 8.74 % compared with US $14802.96 million received during the same period in the preceding year.

During March 2019, the inflow of worker’s remittances amounted to US $1745.80 million, which is 10.73% higher than February 2019 and 3.20% lower than March 2018.
