Saeed Al-Falah Centre holds Prize Distribution Ceremony

A colourful prize distribution ceremony was held at Saeed Al-flah Literacy Centre, Karachi.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Shamim Saeed, head of the Saeed Al-Falah Centre, Karachi said that this institution has been providing free education to the poor and needy children of the area and besides education the institution also provided the uniforms, books and school bags free to the students.

FPCCI says growth in exports should be correlated with the growth in industrial activities and investment in the country

 The growth in exports should be correlated with the growth in industrial activities and investment, as it is notable that handsome growth targets have been achieved in those countries where industrial production and investment have been parallel increased. This was stated by Abdul Rahim Janoo, Acting President FPCCI in a statement on new trade policy for the year 2015-16.

Standard Chartered Bank (Pakistan) Limited reports impressive growth in first half 2015 profits

Highlights:

  • H1 2015 profit (before tax) has grown from PKR 7.2 billion to PKR 8.5 billion
  • Revenue has enhanced by 11per cent in comparison with first half of 2014
  • The deposit momentum continued with a growth of above 9per cent

 

The half yearly profit of the bank (before tax) is PKR 8.5 billion in the first half of 2015 compared to PKR 7.2 billion in the first half last year.

Signing ceremonies of MOUs

Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremonies between National Bank of Pakistan and two major national institutions of KPK province i.e. Frontier Corps and Frontier Constabulary were held in Peshawar on August 5, 2015. 

Under these arrangements, NBP joined hands with these institutions to provide comprehensive banking facilities to them.

APCMA expresses reservations on various tax measures announced in federal budget 15-16

All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers’ Association has expressed reservations on various tax measures announced in federal budget 15~16 that would hurt investors’ sentiments in general and will particularly burden cement consumers in the country. Chairman APCMA Muhammad Ali Tabba has requested the Federal Finance Minister, Ishaq Dar to revisit some fiscal measures which would definitely result in increasing the cost of doing business in the country and are against norms of taxation.

Bestway Cement inaugurates 13.5MW waste heat recovery plants

The inauguration ceremony of the 6MW and 7.5MW waste heat recovery power plants was held at Bestway Cement Limited’s operations at Hattar and Farooqia, District Haripur respectively on Friday, 24 July, 2015. Speaking at the ceremony held to mark the occasion, group Chairman Sir Anwar Pervez, hailed the accomplishment as yet another milestone in the long series of achievements by Bestway since its entry in Pakistan.

K- Electric explains outage

K-Electric issued a detailed statement explaining the outage that occurred in Karachi on late Saturday. The outage in Karachi occurred due to a tripping on the Bin Qasim/Pipri 220 KV transmission line due to high humidity levels. The NDTC transmission line faced a similar issue last night as the current humidity levels are up to 99 per cent in the area of Pipri.

The cargo handling activities of the Karachi Port has gained a fast paced momentum which resulted in breaking all previously set records of cargo handling. The financial year 2014-15 has remained phenomenal for KPT as Karachi Port registered a record handling of 43.42 million tons cargo and 1.72 million Container TEUs (twenty equivalent units) during this financial year.

ETIHAD AIRWAYS AND PIA sign new code share agreement

Etihad Airways and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have signed a codeshare agreement which will provide travelers with enhanced connections between the United Arab Emirates, Pakistan, and beyond. 

Etihad Airways will place its EY code on PIA flights between Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Abu Dhabi.
