K-Electric unveils plan for us$ 1bn 900 mw power project

K-Electric unveils plan for the development of a 900 MW power project that will significantly increase generation capacity and play a critical role in further supporting the energy needs of Karachi. The 900 MW Bin Qasim Power Station III will be built at K-Electric’s Bin Qasim site at an estimated cost of US$ 1 billion and includes simultaneous upgrades to associated transmission infrastructure.

KATI welcomes Tariq Bajwa’s appointment as Governor SBP

Patron-in-Chief of Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) S.M. Permanent Representative of Pakistan to United Nations Environment Programme, Raza Bashir Tarar has been unanimously re-elected as Vice Chair of Committee of Permanent Representatives (CPR) Bureau from Asia Pacific Group for period 2017-19. He has been re-elected at 139th Committee of Permanent Representatives meeting held in Nairobi, a message received on Friday said.

Cement despatches growth 3.71 percent during 2016-2017

Pakistan cement industry closed the fiscal year 2016-17 on a sour note as the domestic demand declined steeply in June by 19.62 percent that was almost double than the decline of 10.95 percent in exports. According to spokesman of the industry the decline in domestic demand was beyond the usual reduction in construction activities during Ramadan that fell in June.

KPT handles 52.49 Million Tons Cargo in FY2016-17, breaking previous record

The cargo handling operations, including export and import at Karachi Port Trust has remained brisk in financial year 2016-17 and the KPT broke its own record. The total cargo handling in this financial year closed at 52.49 million tons whereas the same remained 50.05 million tons during last year resulting in an increase of cargo handling with +4.89% growth.
