Govt asked to control widening current account deficit :Mian Zahid Hussain

President Pakistan Businessmen and Intellectuals Forum (PBIF), President AKIA, Senior Vice Chairman of the Businessmen Panel of FPCCI and former Provincial Minister Mian Zahid Hussain on Wednesday asked the government to take steps to contain widening current account deficit. Last year’s current account deficit stood at 3.3 billion dollars while the deficit for the current year may hit the mark of nine billion dollars, he said.

ECO to develop into a key regional economic bloc soon: PM

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif Tuesday expressed his confidence that the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) would soon develop into a key regional economic bloc.

“Synergizing our strengths, we can soon change our region’s destiny. The way forward for us has been laid out in ECO Vision 2025 in the form of pragmatic and tangible organisational targets,” the prime minister said in his video message released on the occasion of 13th Summit being held on Wednesday (March 1).

Exporters of Leather in Punjab, facing the worst-ever crisis due to complete stoppage of cheques of duty drawback claims

In his press statement, Mr. Azam Malik Chairman Pakistan Tanners’ Association (Northern Zone) said that exporters Lahore and Multan are badly hit by liquidity crisis which is worsening due to held up of their funds in duty drawback refunds. Respective collectorates are unable to release pending cheques against sanctioned claims of duty drawback.
