Auditor General of Pakistan acknowledged colossal savings in award of road contracts: Chairman NHA

The Auditor General of Pakistan, in its annual audit report for year 2016-17 has acknowledged that savings worth billions of rupees were made in the award of highway and motorway contracts through an open and transparent process. This was stated by Chairman Shahid Ashraf Tarar during the meeting of the sub-committee of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) held at the parliament house recently.

APCMA: Capacity utilization touches 93% in October 2017

Cement consumption continued to surge in October 2017 as the monthly despatches of the commodity reached a record high of 4.222 million tons, which is 19.71 percent higher than 3.526 million tons despatches in October 2016. The total despatches of cement in the country has reached 14.570 million tons in the first four months of 2017-18 that is 16.53 percent higher than the despatches of 12.503 million tons during the corresponding four months of last fiscal.

Etihad airways announces design competition winner

Last month, Etihad Airways launched a competition to engage four young Emirati fashion designers to create new onboard loungewear. The competition drew almost 71,000 votes via highly regarded UAE fashion publication Zahrat Al Khaleej’s social media channels. 

Four UAE based designers kicked-off the competition through a challenging set of criteria: the design themes had to involve strong Emirati and UAE influences, working with traditional patterns, accents and must be contemporary and trendy.

Etihad Airways to suspend Abu Dhabi -Dallas/Fort Worth route in 2018

Etihad Airways has announced the suspension of its Abu Dhabi – Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) route effective 25 March 2018, as it will become commercially unsustainable following American Airlines’ unilateral decision to terminate its codeshare agreement with the airline.

Peter Baumgartner, Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer, said: “The unfortunate decision by American Airlines to terminate a commercial relationship that benefited both carriers has left Etihad with no choice but to suspend flights between our Abu Dhabi home and Dallas/Fort Worth.”We are open to American Airlines reversing its decision to cancel our codeshare agreement so that Etihad Airways can continue the route and together protect and support American national interests and global connectivity while driving commercial value for both airlines.”

Etihad Airways has invested heavily in the DFW route since its launch in December 2014.
