National Foods partners with WWF for ‘Lets Plant Our Future’ Campaign

With a vision to combine its industry leadership with sustainable practices, National Foods Limited (NFL) has collaborated with World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in Pakistan to protect the environment by reducing its carbon footprint, encouraging tree plantation and reforestation.

Through this resourceful collaboration for NFL’s #Lets Plant Our Future campaign, thousands of mangrove saplings are being planted which are critical to the conversation of marine life and those dependent on it along Pakistan’s coastal areas, along with other public-awareness drives under the company’s Eco-Friendly Initiative. This initiative encompasses a series of Sustainability activities including reduction of the paper usage in packaging of its Recipe Mixes category by up to 25%, which in turn will result in reduced tree felling of hundreds of trees.

NFL is a pioneer in the industry for adopting numerous practices for community-development, improving the education, health & safety of the masses, along with environmental protection through sustainability initiatives and relief campaigns.

The Chief Executive Officer of NFL – Abrar Hasan stated that: “Climatic disruption is among the most crucial threats faced by our planet Earth and its 8 billion inhabitants. Deforestation is surely among the multiple factors causing this ecological crisis. NFL is pleased to collaborate with WWF for our Eco-Friendly campaign #LetsPlantOurFuture. It encompasses a series of Sustainability activities across all areas of our operations and broader interaction with society, which will enable reduced carbon footprint and environmental impact”.

He further appealed to other enterprises in Pakistan’s corporate sector to also join in initiatives that ensure biodiversity on a large scale that will lead to a greener, cleaner world for our future generations.

National Foods Limited is the 1st Corporate Office in Pakistan to have received the Gold Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification by United States Green Building Council (USGBC). The waste-management practices at NFL’s production facilities are also licensed by Environment Pollution Agencies (EPA) for minimizing the negative environmental impact.
