DP World and Indonesian government sign agreement to develop port and trade infrastructure

An agreement was signed yesterday between global trade enabler DP World and Indonesian government and port officials to advise on the development of the Kuala Tanjung green field port and logistics zone and Belawan port in North Sumatra. As part of a Technical Assistance Contract, DP World will share its expertise and experience in increasing efficiencies, training and development for employees and developing multi-modal transport hubs.

Speakers at the meeting of Shura Hamdard Karachi chapter urged the government to empower the Election Commission to evaluate and enforce the implementation of manifesto, announced by the ruling party year-on year basis. The meeting was held on Thursday July 13, 2017 on the theme: “General Elections – binding to code of conduct and electoral manifesto,” presided over by Justice (Rtd) Haziqul Khairi at a local hall.

K-Electric reiterates its commitment to meet city’s growing power demand

The second day of a two-day hearing on K-Electric’s (KE) review motion was held on 14th July 2017, at a local hotel in Karachi. Organized by NEPRA, the proceeding was attended by businessmen, renowned professionals, philanthropists and civil society. Speaking on KE’s review motion, representatives of industrial associations, appreciated KE’s decision of granting 100% load-shed exemption to industries and stated that the previously allowed performance based structure led to operational improvements in KE.

EU to develop skilled work force for Leather Industry

Pakistan leather garment industry and European Union to Pakistan discussed promotion of leather industry and to increase exports from Pakistan to member’s countries of European Union. In this regards, Mr. Bernard Francois Minister Counselor and Head of Cooperation of European Union to Pakistan and officials of GIZ Germany visited the office of Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PLGMEA) and also discussed with PLGMEA officials an EU funded Project to help the Leather Industry to develop skilled work force.

Etihad Airways increases frequency to Egypt and Nigeria

Etihad Airways is adding year-round flights between its Abu Dhabi hub and both Cairo and Lagos later this year to cater to growing demand to and from the United Arab Emirates. A fifth daily scheduled service will be introduced on the Cairo route, effective 1 October 2017, taking frequency to the Egyptian capital up from 28 to 35 flights a week.
