KW&SB vows to resolve problems in KIA

A meeting held at Korangi Association of Trade & Industry (KATI) between the office bearers of the association and officials from Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KW&SB) to address problems of water supply and sewerage in Korangi Industrial Area (KIA). President of KATI Tariq Malik, CEO KITE DMC Zubair Chaya, Vice President Junaid Naqi, Head of KATI’s Standing committee on KW&SB Umer Rehan, former President KATI Masood Naqi, Gulzar Firoz, Akbar Farooqui and other represented KATI, while acting MD Asadullah Khan and SE Korangi Syed Wajid Siddqui participated in the meeting from KW&SB.

President KATI Tariq Malik said that due to negligence of KW&SB problems regarding water supply and sewerage have become a critical issue of KIA and it’s time to address them. Chairman CEO KITE DMC Zubair Chhaya said that sewerage system of the area has been collapsed, there are many of blockages weren’t removed , dirty water gathered everywhere in the area and also entered into factories. He mentioned that due unmanaged sewerage problems roads of the area were depleted and caused hurdle in to daily commuting. He told that bad shaped roads are now become heaven for criminals, snatching and mugging is now a routine in the vicinity. He appreciated the efforts of Provincial minister for local bodies, Jam Khan Shoro, for his keen interest to resolve these problems and arranged a meeting with concern officials on urgent basis. KATI’s Standing Committee of KW&SB Umer Rehan told the meeting that unavailability of water now become one of the causes of closer industrial units. He said that industrialists buy water for their need which heavily adds to production cost.

On this occasion Acting MD KW&SB assured the representatives of KATI to resolve all the indicated problems soon. He directed to complete all sewerage related work in sector 23 within a week. He also called on a meeting on next week to address the issues. Rafique Godial and representative of Bosch Pharma Mohi Udding were also present in the meeting.
